Description

Our 4wd crossmembers are designed to replicate the fit of the factory crossmembers, with increased clearance for the front double cardan joint and exhaust routing.

We have two versions: one for K5, K10 and K20 with 6” frame rails, and another for K30/Crew Cab with 8” frame rails.

We offer these for the two different transfer case mounts, often referred to as “Long Foot”, used in ’73-’84 models, and “Short Foot”, used in ’85-’91 models.  We have illustrated the difference in short foot and long foot mounting. Keep in mind, owners of early trucks (’73-’84) will often need to replace their long foot crossmember with one compatible with short foot mounting when upgrading to later model transmission and transfer case combinations like we usually see in LS Conversions. Figure 8 patter transfer cases, like the NP203 and NP205 (early) can only be used with long foor mounts. Circular pattern transfer cases can be used with either short or long foot mounts.
If you are unclear what you need, start with the photos here. If you still have questions, please call before you order.

The options available here:
K10/K20 ’85-’87(’91) [short foot]  This is a W shape for the single rubber mount, for 6 inch high frame rails.
K10/K20 ’73-’84 [long foot]  This crossmember has a slight drop overall and accepts the two saddle urethane mounts.
K30/Crew Cab ’85-’87(’91) [short foot] This is a W shape for the single rubber mount, modified for 8 inch high frame rails.
K30/Crew Cab ’73-’84 [long foot]  This crossmember has a slight drop overall and accepts the two saddle urethane mounts.

Transmission mounts are not included.
The part numbers we recommend for the short foot transmission mounts are Anchor 2638 or Energy Suspension 3.1129.
The part number we recommend for the long foot transmission mounts is the Energy Suspension 3.1106.
(The Energy Suspension part numbers will be followed by a G (black) or R (red), which is only a matter of personal preference.)

The Short Foot crossmembers hang no lower than a factory GM W shaped crossmember.
The Long Foot crossmembers hang lower than a factory crossmember from ’73-’84, but are still considerably higher than a W shaped crossmember that replaced them ’85-’91. The transfer case will hang lower than our Long Foot crossmember.

We have had no reports of tunnel clearance issues in the 4wd high tunnel cabs with any GM transmission related to our crossmembers.
